There is little doubt that Heliconias are beautiful plants and placing one next to the refined beauty of a Japanese woman creates the foundation of an appealing painting. I enjoyed working on the meticulous detail and complimentary colours of this painting that illuminates and captivates. I also wanted to make a comment on how artificiality can be strikingly beautiful even if it is controlled and commercially packaged.
